Our speakers, Kristin Bräunlich and Wolfgang Hasper from the Passive House Institute, will explore control strategies for non-residential Passive House buildings.

Non-res­id­en­tial build­ings are equipped with a num­ber of tech­nic­al sys­tems for vari­ous ap­plic­a­tions. Con­ven­tion­al build­ing auto­ma­tion paradigms of­ten per­form less than ideally in Pass­ive House build­ings, and prob­lems are found out late in the pro­cess: In the com­mis­sion­ing phase or as a re­sponse to feed­back from post-oc­cu­pancy mon­it­or­ing. By then, it is usu­ally too late to make fun­da­ment­al changes, such as re­pro­gram­ming the con­trol­ler's lo­gic. How can we de­liv­er co­her­ent and ro­bust con­trols so that in­di­vidu­al func­tions such as vent­il­a­tion, cool­ing, and shad­ing can in­ter­act ef­fect­ively?
