NYPH member Ryan Enschede's Studio alongside 475 High Performance Building Supply designed the award-winning and carbon-sequestering retrofit:

"The new headquarters is a key milestone in 475.Supply’s mission to transform North American construction by demonstrating, at building scale, the high-performance and low-carbon strategies it advocates. The project converts an early masonry apartment over garage into an office, warehouse, and showroom, creating a foam-free, ultra-low-energy Passive House workplace that functions as both a healthy environment and a teaching tool. Existing foundations, slab, and walls were retained, and new locally sourced mass timber structure was added. Nail-laminated timber (NLT) was built in a simple 3-6-9 pattern referencing the address, and left exposed to reduce embodied carbon, avoid high impact steel, concrete, and gypsum, and highlight natural materiality. The enclosure achieved a first-of-its kind dual certification under PHI and Phius. A new stone wool and smart vapor control combination product saw its first use in North America providing continuous insulation. It was installed over a liquid-applied air barrier to create a continuous, thermal bridge free shell. Triple-pane skylights provide daylight and roof access, while a demand controlled ERV with high efficiency filtration maintains indoor air quality with low energy use. With an 8 kW photovoltaic canopy, these strategies deliver a low carbon, high comfort workplace that practices what it preaches."

The project award has been featured in numerous publications, including:
